Mother has always been a strong advocate for thin client technology and we are a long standing Dell Wyse partner. Any centralised cloud system whether hosted internally or externally has the option to utilise thin client technology to embrace a fully hosted desktop. It’s such an elegant IT solution given its low running and support costs as well as the additional benefits it can bring.
Costs are reduced given that thin client units are such a simple piece of hardware with no inbuilt functionality other than to connect to the centralised system. They use less electricity to run, cannot be hacked or interfered with, are immune to viruses, users cannot download anything onto them and there is very little technically that could ever go wrong. As such, they have a long lifespan and reduce redundancy expenditure.
The adoption of thin client devices moves IT operations management to a centralised, server based model. Users no longer have control over desktops, instead a standardised desktop is delivered from a centralised or hosted service. Thin client simplifies networks and delivers a reliable, cost effective system. All users work with the same tools, software versions and benefit from the same user experience regardless of their location. All you need is an internet connections and your staff can work from anywhere.
